Q: Can I vote by mail?
Yes! And given COVID-19, it’s a good idea to do so. In Maine, you don’t need an excuse to request an absentee ballot. As long as you’re registered, you can request to have your ballot mailed to you or request it online. Request your ballot by October 29th, and return it by November 3rd.
Q: Can I vote early?
Yes, in that you can vote by mail at any point ahead of the election. In person early voting dates vary by county. You don’t need an excuse in Maine, so make sure you request your ballot in plenty of time.
Q: Do I need an ID?
If you’re voting by mail, no. Your signature on your ballot must match your registration form.
If you’re voting in person and you completed your registration in the past and have voted before, you’re all set. If you’re a first-time voter or want to finish your registration on Election Day, you will need to bring a photo ID or a copy of a utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck.
Q: This is my home state, but I won't be home for this election. Can I still vote here?
